Information on the Surrounding

 

• The house is 3km from the town of Fuengirola and 4 km from the picturesque town of Mijas.

• Malaga airport is 15 km via the main A7 motorway taking approximately 15minutes. 

• Malaga city is 35 km and is accessed via two main motorways directly into the city. 

• Malaga railway station is also found via this route where one can take the AVE train to Madrid as well as other inland cities such as Barcelona, Cordobe, and Seville. 

• Marbella is approximately 40 km via either the Toll Way or via the original coast road. 7 km further on is the famous Puerto Banus.

• There is a large Pharmacy in the commercial area of the Cortijo Del Agua community.  

• There is a large Lidl supermarket within three minutes drive and a new Aldi supermarket within walking distance. 

• Corte Ingles is one of the major stores throughout Spain. There is one just outside Fuengirola and within 5 min drive from the house, as well as another smaller one in Los Boliches about 8 min drive.

• Another recent addition has been the French supermarket Carrefour. It has proved to be very popular.

 

On the outskirts of Fuengirola along the main road are two major shopping complexes. Miramar being the largest that includes many main brand shops and includes restaurants and as well as a go-kart track on the roof for the those in need to speed and excitement. The other centre is three minutes away and includes numerous wholesale type stores such as the hardware store AKI, the well known food store Iceland.

 

Both Fuengirola and Los Boliches have traditional food markets offering fresh vegetables, meat, fish, spices, flowers, natural medicines, etc.

 

Within the surrounding area there are several highly recommendable restaurants. Within walking distance there is one of the renowned Italian Da Bruno restaurants, four to five quality restaurants on the drive up to the Mijas village and then all sorts of restaurants in the village, some with amazing views of the immediate Mediterranean coastline. Fuengirola town has blossomed with new good quality restaurants that are in easy reach by Mijas taxies.

 

Beaches for which the Costa del Sol is famed are just 5 minutes away starting in Fuengirola. They stretch both left and right and there are any number of amazing local beach restaurants known as Chirinquitos in Spain. Naturally sailing is prolific right along the coast.

 

 

Activities

 

Tennis: for convenience there is a tennis club across the road to Cortijo del Agua.

Five minutes away by car is the Lew Hoades tennis centre. There are any number of other tennis clubs within easy reach.

 

Golf: the Costa del Sol is rightly renowned throughout Europe and some courses internationally. Courses are a 10 to 20 minute drive away.

 

Water Sports: as mentioned above sailing is in abundance. There is also jet-skiing, water skiing and paragliding.

 

Cycling: a very popular sport in Spain there are any number of cycling tracks as well as mountain cycling locations within 15 to 30 minutes drive.

 

Walking: the weather is a central factor in this hugely popular pass time. The ‘paseo’ along the front of Fuengirola and Los Boliches is regularly packed with walkers of all ages. A well-advanced project will soon connect a walkway from Fuengirola all the way to Marbella. Many parts of the coastline between these two towns already have this walkway that is on the immediate seashore. It has been one of the most successful additions to the whole of the Costa del Sol. At most times of the day there are people walking, cycling and running.

 

Water Park:  there is a large water park in Fuengirola that open from March to the end of October. 

 

Zoo: the old zoo was closed for some years but was totally revamped four to five years ago and is said to be one of the finest zoo’s in Europe today.
